Down cut bits are the answer to many material finishing issues you might have. The spiral down cut flute design creates a cleaner edge on the top of your material when cutting into or even through materials. Albeit the geometry of the flutes is in reverse, these bits can be used exactly the same way as up spiral and straight flute end mills. The added benefit of the down cut is that it stops that annoying uplift of material an up cut bit creates when cutting.

Down cut bits are exceptional on material that have a layered structure.

Suitable for
  • Aluminum Composite (cut in either 1 or 2 passes)
  • Plastics - ABS & cast acrylic

Have an Openbuilds C-beam DIY mill with a Bosch trim router as a spindle. Runs at 33,000 RPM.

When cutting small parts found an uncut bit worked best for roughing and drilling holes. Got a perfect, clean edge when using this down cut bit for finishing.
